What is the cost of a trademark?

Answered By Elsie Ivins, Editor

The cost for getting a trademark is dependent on the action executed during the process of filing the federal application. A trademark search firm will be of great help in filing the application although you will incur costs in availing their services.

• Reviewing the report whether a selected trademark appears to be registerable- $320 and limited to one name and in one classification.

• Preparation of trademark application with any accompanying drawings- $250. It does not include the trademark filing fee and the attorney’s fee.

• Preparation for responses to overcome rejection of the mark- about $250 and $5,000 that will be used in gathering additional evidences and preparing a responsive reply.
