What happens if I don’t get a patent?
Answered By Elsie Ivins, Editor
If you do not get a patent, somebody else who has developed the same or an equivalent invention later on might patent it under their names.
Competitors may take advantage of your invention especially when it is successful. They may take advantage of the scale economies to produce it.
And without the intellectual property rights, the transfer of technology would be difficult, or much worse, impossible.
